Can I fold in fresh fruit into a cake batter without ruining the recipe?

I want to make a nice fresh strawberry cake, But i cant find any recipe with strawberries actually in it, just on the top or in the middle with cream. Can i add a cup of fresh cut strawberries into my batter without ruining the batter? And if i can, which type of cake recipe should i use, i was thinking just a plain vanilla cake? I want it to be really moist too. Is one cup of strawberries enough?

Any tips or recipes would be very much appreciated! xx I want to make one for my baby shower. :)

you can puree the strawberries and use them in replace of the liquid called for....or once the batter is prepared and panned press halved strawberries into the batter and bake as usual....or do bothCan I fold in fresh fruit into a cake batter without ruining the recipe?
A plain cake recipe should be O.K. to use, but you might want to coat the strawberries in flour first to make sure they don't sink to the bottom--at least that works for blue berries. But, really I recommend just cutting the cake in half and making a layer of strawberries and cream in the middle, that way they are Fresh.
I would think it would be okay. Slice them in a medium thickness, maybe add a little less water though as they will most likely add moisture. I think a white or vanilla cake sounds nice. You could also try a chocolate cake. Look atthe batter after you fold in the berries. I would think that to many berries would not make a great cake. Try to picture it as one berry per bite.
Ok start with a vanilla cake and the at the very end of making it fold in the strawberries, but don't stir too much or you may end up with smashed fruit in a cake. The just pour it into your baking pans, cook, frost and serve! Good luck!
I once tried to make rice crispy treats with fresh strawberries, it totally didnt work out because the water in the strawberries made it way to mushy. I would think if you put strawberries into a batter that it would def. do the same as it did to my mishap.
