Do you have a recipe for a good chocolate cake?

I'd like tried and true recipes...this is important...it's for my fiance's birthday...which is on Christmas Day so I CAN NOT goof this up.

I'd like a moist chocolate cake, I have reasonably good cooking skills but don't want anything wildly difficult. And can you please put a little feedback on what the cake tastes like when made? Thank you!Do you have a recipe for a good chocolate cake?

you might wanna try it out just to make sure you like itDo you have a recipe for a good chocolate cake?
The chocolate cake that I love for my birthday is Coca Cola Cake. It's a very moist cake. The frosting is kind of like fudge on top but shiny and really fabulous. The only thing with the Coke Cake is that it's made in a 9 x 11 pan with the frosting poured on, so if you want a traditional layer cake, it's not made like that. For taste though, it's the very best. I included the link. Even if you don't make it for the birthday, you might try it some time. Very yummy!
A good box mix is Duncan Hines. Add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon to the dry mix and mix it thourhgly before adding wet ingredients. Makes it taste more home made. Another booster is coffee, use strong coffee instead of water in the mix. Either one gives chocolate that little something extra when you want a richer flavor without going overboard on the chocolate. As soon as the pan cools to the touch place it in the freezer to finish chilling (don't freeze it). This causes it to retain its moisture.
just use bette crocker's instant cake mix. be sure to add some ';green'; for added pleasure
I didn't know if it had to be ';all'; chocolate. There is this restaurant here in Dallas called Cafe Brazil. They are famous for their banana chocolate chip cake. Here is the recipe with the correct modifications below:

1/2 lb. butter

1 1/2 c. sugar

4 eggs

4 very ripe bananas, mashed

2 tsp. baking powder

2 tsp. baking soda

1/4 tsp. salt

2 tsp. vanilla

3 1/2 c. flour

1 pt. sour cream

12 oz. pkg. mini chocolate chips

Cream butter, sugar, eggs. Add mashed bananas. Add dry ingredients alternately with sour cream. Lastly add 1/2 package of mini chips. Pour in greased pans square cake pans. Sprinkle rest of miniature chips on top. Bake 350 degree oven 1 hour 10 minutes.

Now, you have a choice. You can make one layer...which is just as yummy...or two or three. Either way..you need to either purchase of make chocolate frosting for the top of this. It is incredible. If you don't have ripe bananas...place the bananas in a bag w/ several apples. They will ripen very quickly. Good luck! Oh, and if you're looking for an easy way out...with excellent results...go buy two packages of Ghiradelli Chocolate brownies. Prepare as instructed, but add an extra egg. Then frost it as you would a cake. You can do this one in layers as well...He'll never know you didn't make it from scratch.
I like this one
